5. Morgan’s Canoe Livery at Fort Ancient

Morgan’s Canoe & Outdoor Adventures is open for the regular season starting at the beginning of May, and offers Spring and Fall canoe trips as well.

Again the pandemic has affected the available trips, but the Fort Ancient location, north of Cincinnati, is still offering their 3-mile and 6-mile canoe trips on the Little Miami River.

You’ll canoe past lush and steeply wooded hillsides, and enjoy easy, fun rapids with calm water spots in between.  Stop along the way to relax or have a picnic for the perfect day on this scenic part of the river.

Morgan’s Canoe Livery at Fort Ancient was the first livery on the Little Miami river, and has been operating since 1969.

Fort Ancient was inhabited by the Hopewell Indians, and it’s in an isolated part of the river with no towns within 6 miles.  This makes for breathtaking natural scenery.

Take advantage of their campgrounds and book a nice weekend stay-cation.  Make time to visit Ft. Ancient State Memorial Park for hiking and viewing the historic burial grounds.
